Connect:
Bring together members of the Arts community with each other and their various audiences.  We are a source of Who’s Who and What’s Happening.

Communicate: 
As an Arts umbrella organization we represent and advocate on behalf of all Artists and are a source of relevant information for the benefit of all. 

Celebrate: 
To encourage awareness and appreciation for residents and visitors of the wide diversity of Arts, Culture and Heritage in our area     

Membership:  Free and Voting

Become a member of the Sudbury Arts Council.  There is no charge for general membership which includes listing in our database with contact information for any individual, group or organization.   

Voting (paid) membership in the Council is also available and includes a brief bio and a picture on our website.  Full information on the two page registration form (word) or registration form (PDF) to complete and return by regular or e-mail. Registration forms are also available for pick up and drop off at Stopciati Gallery, 153 Applegrove St.  Northern Artist Gallery (Artists on Elgin), 168 Elgin St., and Music and Film in Motion, 96 Larch Street, Suite 200.

Artists of Recognition:

Local entertainer Cheryl Cerri is one of the top ten participants in the Canadian TV "You Think you got Talent" contest.  You can go to the website (link below) and see Cheryl and vote for her and if she gets the most votes she will have her video aired on America's Got Talent show with a chance to go to LA.  Votes must be sent in by July 15th.  http://www.citytv.com/toronto/contest/77842--think-you-ve-got-talent-canada 

Local photographer Erik Lovin was recently honoured by the Professional Photographers of Canada with the title "Commercial Photographer of the Year (2010) at their annual meeting held in Mont-Tremblant.  His award was celebrated locally on is return by members of the Sudbury Arts Council and his friends at a party with cake and refreshments.  He is shown above with partner Vally Laflame. Founded in 2003 under the auspices of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, the Silver Birch String Quartet is one of Ontario's most exciting and innovative young quartets, quickly earning the admiration of audiences and critics for their vibrant performances.  Their talents have not gone unnoticed nationally as the quartet was nominated for a Juno Award.  Congratulations.

Widely acclaimed poet and philosopher Dr. Roger Nash has been appointed by City council as Greater Sudbury's first Poet Laureate for a two year term ending on Dec. 31st 2011. Congratulations.

 

John Lindsay SAC board member shown below congratulating former Sudbury Arts Council executive board member Oryst Sawchuk on being recognized in the Arts category at the 2010 Community Builders Awards presentation.  Oryst is an architect by profession, a recognized fine and graphic artist, sculptor, musician, urban planner, business and community leader.  Oryst is chair of the City's Heritage Advisory Committee  - Erik Lovin photo.
