SAC general program support parameters:
Please note that at the current time due to financial restraints we
are not accepting partnership applications.
The SAC mission is "Promoting the arts and articulating the relevance of the arts to the community."
We help to connect, communicate and celebrate.
Depending on our resources we can help promote the arts through partnerships
with
a) individuals or groups who have little or no experience with, or infrastructure for, establishing and operating an arts program or event; and with
b) established groups who hope to develop a program which meets SAC’s objectives but which is currently not funded by any other means.
We offer seed funding and general partnership support to encourage project, program, or event development among youth artists, among individuals or groups with special needs, and among seniors.
-
While SAC distinguishes between fund-raising and programming, it will strive to form partnerships which may integrate the two to some degree.
-
SAC will not normally undertake solo programs, but will always endeavor to partner with individuals or groups.
-
Notwithstanding #2, SAC may from time to time initiate a program it deems worthwhile, and operate it until the program can operate independently.
-
SAC distinguishes between "financial support" and "general support". "Financial support" is non-salary "seed" money, normally granted on a one-time basis. "General support" includes resources (equipment, time, expertise), and promotion (ArtScape, website,
media interviews, releases, public service announcements).
-
Generally SAC’s aim is to provide partnership financial support on a one-time basis. SAC anticipates that a successful program or event will fly on its own with a parent group after the first year. At this time SAC support will become general. SAC understands that financial independence may not occur in the 1st year, and may not be appropriate to expect from certain programs or events. Consequently, SAC will accept applications yearly, and will review the need.
-
Broadly, SAC will encourage program or event development among youth artists, among individuals or groups with special needs, and among seniors.
-
For established groups (ie. with a regular budget, premises, and/or staff), SAC support will normally be general and directed to resource loaning and promotion.
Requirements for individuals or groups requesting SAC program support
General
-
Financial support is NOT provided for wages. Honoraria for speakers and workshop leaders MAY be considered.
-
Financial support normally is provided on a one-time basis. SAC expects any profit revenues to be used for the ongoing support of the program. If SAC provides a financial grant to individuals or a group that have no organizational structure, SAC will hold any profit revenue in a trust account for the individuals or group for one year from the end of the event or program. At that point, if the group or individuals do not continue with the event or program, the trust funds will revert to SAC.
-
All proposers of programs and events normally must demonstrate how they will bring in revenue or in-kind contributions to assist with their expenses. If revenue or in-kind contributions are not possible or appropriate, the proposers must explain why not.
-
All programs and events partnering with SAC through receiving SAC financial or general support must agree to display the SAC logo on promotional material, and generally to acknowledge SAC’s partnership.
-
Partner organization or individuals MUST be or become members of SAC.
Specific
-
All proposals MUST be submitted to SAC at least two months before the proposed program or event, and MUST include:
-
An information sheet containing names, addresses, and phone/fax numbers of at least two principals responsible for the proposal and program, as well as the name and full address of the organization (if any) that will partner with SAC in establishing the program.
-
A one page description of the program, with prospective dates, participants, audiences, goals.
-
A planning time-line.
-
A one page budget for the program or event (both expenses and anticipated revenue), clearly indicating the financial request (if any) to SAC.
In addition
All successful applicants are requested to submit a one page report to SAC on how SAC funds were used, after the event or program is completed.
Please note: At the current time SAC is not accepting partnership
applications.
